Downtown Burbank has evolved dramatically over the past decade, and no restaurant better represents that evolution than Granville. Set on Palm Avenue in the heart of the downtown corridor, it hits the notes that matter: a space that feels designed without feeling cold, a menu that respects quality without demanding formality, and a bar program that would hold its own in Silver Lake or Los Feliz.
Brunch is the main event. The chicken and waffles arrive exactly as you hope — crispy buttermilk chicken, a light Belgian waffle, a hit of hot honey that adds just enough edge to the sweetness. The avocado toast is the one you describe to people who say they are tired of avocado toast, because the pickled onion and everything spice actually earn their place. The Granville Burger is a proper lunch burger: house-ground beef, aged cheddar, the right amount of sauce.
Evening brings a quieter crowd — industry professionals, families celebrating, couples splitting the truffle mac and cheese and wondering why they waited so long. The cocktail list rotates with the seasons, and whoever is running the bar program clearly takes it seriously.
Granville succeeds because it does not try too hard. The prices are fair for the quality, the service is warm, and the outdoor patio on Palm Avenue is one of the nicer places to sit in Burbank on a clear evening — which in Southern California is most of them.
